John Barrie
Leadership and Performance Coach
What are your areas of interest?
I love working with clients on finding white space within their day for creativity and to reduce burnout. Helping clients find their voice and to acknowledge the potential that they don't even see is another highlight in my practice.
Best way for potential clients to contact you
My ideal client is someone who is successful, motivated to improve, will listen to other points of view, and vulnerable enough to answer powerful questions and reflect deeply. You will dream big and want to improve your situation. That can mean goal setting, earning promotions/more money, improving interpersonal skills/relationships, OR figuring out how to work less and have more space for family, friends, fun and creativity.
What do you recommend to help clients focus on their work?
There are too many distractions. We all love to respond to the e-mail or chat notifications! Sometimes going in "do not disturb" is an amazing thing!
What does mental wellbeing mean to you?
I like to use the term mental fitness. It's incredibly important and take work to get ourselves fit and in a good place. It can dip down, but can also be built up. Wellbeing is one of the things I strive for with my clients, without wellbeing, everything else will suffer.
What do you love about working with your clients?
I love getting to know each of my clients in a real way and as much as they seem to get out of a session, I learn from each and every one of them.
Why do you refer clients to focused space?
Because focused space has unlocked the value of deep focused work for me and I want to share that experience with others.
How would you describe your unique style of working with clients?
I like to really get to know them, use some humor and lightness to spark creativity and reframing, and generally be vulnerable right back with them.
