What are your areas of interest?
I focus on time management skills, stress-reduction strategies, and goal-setting tools.
Best way for potential clients to contact you
I'm a therapist, ADHD and time management specialist, professor and book author (The Ultimate Time Management Toolkit/JKP Books). I work with people each week on executive functioning skills, procrastination, time management and goal-setting. If you're feeling overwhelmed by your to-do list and want a direct approach, come and work with me!
What is a superpower folks with ADHD have?
A lot of my clients with ADHD are super high-achieving creative people with amazing ideas and perspectives. I find that people with ADHD tend to usually be warm, understanding and intelligent, which makes them a fun group to work with.
What do you recommend to help clients focus on their work?
People aren't always aware of how stressed out they are, so it's hard for them to take steps to manage their daily stress. Developing an awareness of your daily stress, your daily energy levels and which tasks are stressful for you to do, is part of our work together to better manage your time.
What do you love about working with your clients?
I love helping people break down goals into tiny, reasonable, manageable steps and then watching people start to feel motivated and inspired to take those steps!
Why do you refer clients to focused space?
Learning how your own brain focuses and relaxes best is important to do!
How would you describe your unique style of working with clients?
I have a direct style that focuses on getting clients to figure out where they want to go next. It's based on where you are now, and where you want to go in the future. Also, I like to laugh and get creative in sessions with clients. Lots of my clients are creative professionals!
Is there a recent testimonial you'd like to share from a client?
"Risa helped me figure out where I wanted to go and what the next step was for me. She is warm, funny, kind, and helps you to feel inspired and motivated. Her wonderful books have also helped me remember the tools we use together a lot!"
